The treatment that works from the inside out
Your jaw holds everything. Every clenched moment, every night of grinding, every year of held tension — stored in muscles too deep to reach from the outside. Buccal massage releases them directly: relieving chronic pain while sculpting the face beneath.

The technique
Standard facial massage works on the surface. It softens what it can reach — but the muscles that hold the most tension aren't reachable from the outside. The masseter at the back of the jaw. The pterygoids deep behind the cheekbone. The buccinator that shapes the inner cheek. These are the muscles that carry years of clenching, grinding, and stored stress.
Buccal massage — pronounced buckle — is an intraoral technique. Using gloved hands, Tenielle works from inside the mouth to release these structures directly: where the tension actually lives, where the muscle actually begins, where real change is possible.
Masseter
The primary jaw muscle — the main driver of clenching, grinding, and TMJ pain. Often visibly enlarged in habitual grinders. Releases directly with intraoral technique.
Pterygoids
Deep muscles behind the cheekbone that control jaw movement and restrict opening. Unreachable from outside. Intraoral release reduces clicking and restricted jaw motion.
Buccinator
The muscle that shapes the inner cheek and defines its contour. Releasing it lifts the midface and softens muscle-related hollowing and asymmetry.
Fascia
The connective tissue that holds the whole face in its habitual shape. Myofascial release softens chronic holding patterns — the face restructures over time.
The method
The muscles that cause jaw tension are the same muscles that define your jawline. When you release the masseter and pterygoids, the jaw reshapes. When you drain the lymphatic system and decompress the fascia, the face lifts and defines. These aren't separate outcomes — they're the same anatomy responding to the same hands.
This is what distinguishes Soulful Sculpt's approach: treating the face as a complete system — nervous system, muscle structure, fascia, and skin — rather than a surface to be improved. You feel the difference immediately.
Buccal massage directly addresses the root cause of jaw pain, TMJ dysfunction, bruxism, and chronic headaches — the deep facial muscles that no external treatment can effectively reach. Clients often feel the release during the session itself.
The relief isn't surface-level. It's structural change in muscles that have been held for years.
TMJ · Jaw Tension · Bruxism · HeadachesReleasing tight jaw muscles reshapes the lower face. The jawline sharpens. The cheeks lift. Lymphatic drainage de-puffs and defines. These are aesthetic changes produced entirely by muscle release and circulation — no injectables, no devices.
Most clients see visible change in the mirror the same day as their first session.
Jawline · Lifting · Contouring · De-puffingWho it's for
Most clients arrive through one of two doors: they're in pain and nothing else has worked, or they want visible results without needles. Many find both — and didn't expect to.

Your session
Sessions run 60 minutes at the Ashmore studio. Sterile single-use gloves throughout. A protocol built around your specific tension patterns, skin, and goals.
Your session begins with a brief consultation. Tenielle assesses where you hold tension in the jaw, face, and neck — and understands your specific goals — before a single technique is applied.
Neck, scalp, and facial massage relaxes the superficial layers and warms the deeper muscles. This also allows Tenielle to read how the jaw is holding before moving intraorally.
Using sterile gloved hands, Tenielle works from inside the mouth to release the masseter, pterygoid, and buccal muscles at their deepest layers — the part of the session no external technique can replicate.
Lifting strokes, gua sha, and manual lymphatic drainage work together to de-puff, contour, and define the face. Visible results from this sequence are usually immediate.
A hydrating finish and personalised aftercare guidance to support your results between sessions. Tenielle will recommend a schedule based on your specific tension and aesthetic goals.
Soulful Sculpt's approach addresses more than the physical. The face stores emotional and neurological tension — and Tenielle's technique creates the safety for that deeper layer to release as well. Clients often feel an unexpected softening alongside the physical change.

Founder · Soulful Sculpt · Ashmore, Gold Coast
Tenielle is the founder of Soulful Sculpt, the Gold Coast's most-reviewed facial sculpting studio. Her method sits at the intersection of therapeutic relief and visible aesthetic change — because she believes you shouldn't have to choose between the two.
Her approach is grounded in the nervous system. Every technique begins with the understanding that the face is not just a surface — it's a map of everything the body has been holding. When you work with that understanding, the results are in a different category entirely.

Common questions
Buccal massage (pronounced buckle) is an intraoral facial massage technique. Using gloved hands, the therapist works from inside the mouth to release the deep facial and jaw muscles — including the masseter, pterygoids, and buccinator — that are impossible to reach effectively from the outside. The treatment addresses both jaw tension and aesthetic concerns including loss of definition, puffiness, and muscle-related ageing.
There is some pressure sensation inside the mouth, particularly if you carry significant jaw tension. Most clients describe it as intense but deeply releasing — similar to a deep tissue massage on a tight muscle. Discomfort typically reduces noticeably with each session as chronic tension is addressed. Tenielle works at a pace and pressure that suits each individual client.
Most clients notice visible lifting and relief after their very first session. For lasting structural change — softening chronic jaw tension and reshaping muscle definition — a course of sessions is recommended. Most clients start with 4–6 sessions and then maintain every 4–6 weeks depending on how much tension they carry and their aesthetic goals.
A regular facial works on the surface of the skin. Buccal massage works directly with the muscle layer — 40+ facial muscles including deep structures only accessible from inside the mouth. This means buccal massage can achieve results no topical treatment can: genuine muscle release, structural lifting from beneath the skin, and relief from pain originating in the jaw and fascia.
Yes. Buccal massage directly addresses the masseter and pterygoid muscles — the primary contributors to TMJ (temporomandibular joint) dysfunction, jaw clicking, teeth grinding, and chronic jaw pain. Intraoral release of these muscles can reduce pain, improve jaw mobility, and provide lasting relief that other treatments cannot replicate.
We recommend consulting your GP or midwife before booking any massage treatment during pregnancy. Please disclose pregnancy when booking so Tenielle can discuss the treatment plan and any adjustments with you before your session.
Before: Avoid alcohol and avoid having anti-wrinkle injections or fillers in the two weeks prior. Stay well hydrated on the day. After: Drink plenty of water, avoid intense exercise for 24 hours, and keep the skin lightly moisturised. Mild tenderness in the jaw is normal for 24–48 hours after your first session — a sign the muscles have been genuinely worked.
