Manual face drainage — de-puff, contour, brighten
The face tells you when fluid isn't moving. Puffiness that lingers past midday. Under-eyes that stay heavy. A face that looks heavier and less defined than you know it can. Manual lymphatic drainage redirects what's stagnating — and the change is immediate and visible.

The technique
The lymphatic system is a network of vessels and nodes that drains excess fluid and waste from the body's tissues. Unlike the blood system, lymph has no pump — it relies on movement, breathing, and muscular activity to flow. When it stagnates, the evidence shows in your face.
Facial lymphatic drainage uses specific light-touch strokes in a precise directional sequence that follows the lymphatic pathways — from the face toward the major drainage nodes beneath the jaw and in the neck. The technique is gentle but the effect is immediate: the face visibly de-puffs and sharpens as fluid moves where it belongs.
The Nodes
Lymph from the face drains toward nodes in front of the ears, under the jaw, and along the neck. When these pathways are sluggish, fluid backs up. Drainage activates the nodes and restores flow.
The Pressure
Lymphatic vessels lie just beneath the skin — deep pressure pushes past them. The correct technique is light, rhythmic, and specific to the drainage direction. Heavier isn't better here.
The Result
Reduced puffiness, sharper contour, improved skin clarity. The face looks less heavy and more defined. For most clients, the change is visible in the mirror before they leave the studio.
The Timing
Lymphatic drainage is most effective as a course of sessions for chronic congestion, and as a regular maintenance tool for ongoing clarity. A single session before an event delivers immediate visible results.
Three changes
Lymphatic drainage produces three distinct, visible changes — and all three happen from the same technique. Moving fluid de-puffs the face, moving fluid sharpens the contour beneath it, and clearing stagnant lymph brightens the skin above it.
At Soulful Sculpt, facial lymphatic drainage is also integrated into the full facial sculpting protocol — used after buccal massage and sculpting strokes to enhance and extend the contouring effect.
Fluid pooling under the eyes, around the cheeks, and along the jawline creates a soft, heavy appearance that no amount of highlighter fixes. Lymphatic drainage removes the fluid directly — the face becomes immediately more defined.
Most clients see visible reduction in puffiness during the session. The jawline and cheekbone structure emerges as the volume above it decreases.
Jaw · Under-eye · Cheeks · ContouringStagnant lymph carries waste products that contribute to dull, congested skin. Moving it out allows fresh fluid and nutrients to reach the tissue. The complexion looks clearer, brighter, and more even after drainage.
For clients with chronic puffiness or dullness, progressive sessions produce cumulative improvement in both volume and skin quality.
Clarity · Radiance · Even tone · GlowWho it's for
Some faces carry congestion as a constant background state. Others experience it acutely — after surgery, after filler, after a bad night's sleep. Wherever puffiness comes from, the mechanism to address it is the same.
You have chronic facial puffiness — especially in the morning or in the under-eye area — that doesn't resolve on its own
You've had dermal filler and have residual puffiness or congestion you want help clearing (2+ weeks post-treatment)
You're recovering from facial surgery or dental procedures and need help moving post-operative swelling
You have a dull, congested complexion that skincare products haven't been able to address
You have an upcoming event or photo shoot and want to look as defined and bright as possible on the day
You want to add lymphatic drainage as part of a regular self-care routine to maintain facial contour and skin clarity

Your session
Facial lymphatic drainage is available as a standalone treatment or as part of the full facial sculpting protocol. Sessions run 45–60 minutes. No machines, no devices — manual technique throughout.
Tenielle assesses where fluid is pooling — the under-eye area, cheeks, jawline, and neck — and identifies any areas of particular congestion before beginning the drainage sequence.
Drainage always begins at the terminus — the lymphatic ducts near the collarbone. Opening these before working the face ensures the fluid has somewhere to go. Neck activation precedes facial work.
Light, directional strokes follow the lymphatic pathways from the centre of the face outward and downward toward the submandibular and preauricular nodes. The technique is rhythmic, gentle, and precise.
The under-eye area requires particular care — the tissue is delicate and the lymphatic vessels extremely superficial. This step addresses puffiness and dark circles related to lymphatic congestion specifically.
Where drainage is combined with sculpting strokes, the lymphatic work follows muscle release — allowing the skin to settle into its newly defined position with less fluid holding it in the old shape.
Hydration is essential for 24 hours after lymphatic drainage. Tenielle will advise on session frequency based on your specific presentation — chronic congestion typically responds best to a progressive course.

Tenielle is the founder of Soulful Sculpt, Gold Coast's most-reviewed facial sculpting studio. Lymphatic drainage is integrated throughout her facial sculpting protocol — not as an add-on, but as a core component of visible, lasting facial change.
Her approach treats the face as a complete system. Drainage, muscle release, and fascial work each play a distinct role in the result — and understanding how they interact is what makes the outcome more than the sum of its parts.

Common questions
Facial lymphatic drainage is a manual massage technique that uses light, rhythmic strokes to stimulate the lymphatic vessels in the face and neck. Unlike blood, lymph fluid has no pump — it relies on movement and manual massage to flow. When lymph stagnates, the face becomes puffy, dull, and loses definition. Drainage redirects this fluid to the correct nodes, reducing puffiness and sharpening contour.
Regular facial massage uses varied pressure to work the muscles and skin. Lymphatic drainage uses very light, specific pressure in a precise directional sequence that follows the lymphatic pathways — because the lymphatic vessels are just beneath the skin's surface. The technique looks and feels quite different from deep massage, and the mechanism is entirely distinct: it's designed to move fluid, not manipulate muscle.
We recommend waiting a minimum of 2 weeks after anti-wrinkle injections or dermal fillers before receiving any facial massage. Please disclose recent cosmetic procedures when booking. Lymphatic drainage can help reduce post-filler puffiness once the appropriate settling period has passed, but timing and technique must be carefully considered for each person.
Results are visible from the first session. For chronic or significant puffiness, a course of 4–6 sessions is recommended to progressively clear congestion and establish better lymphatic flow. Monthly maintenance sessions are ideal for ongoing results. A single session before an event delivers clear, immediate change.
Yes, when under-eye puffiness has a lymphatic component. The under-eye area is particularly susceptible to lymphatic congestion — the tissue is delicate and drainage pathways are easily compromised by poor sleep, allergies, or stagnant fluid. Targeted work in the orbital area can reduce puffiness and the appearance of dark circles significantly. Note: structural dark circles (pigmentation, hollowing) require different interventions.
